How Does a dog Earn Points Towards Titles?

Flyball points are earned on the basis of how fast the team runs during the heats of a race. Races are usually scored in this (or a similar) manner ...

2 teams line up on 2 lanes, each with 4 hurdles and a ball box at the far end. The teams are made up of 4 dogs which run a relay style race down over the 4 hurdles to the box to retrieve a ball and come back over the 4 hurdles and pass their teammate who does the same thing. This goes on throughout all the 4 dogs. Now, normally there are heats run and the first team to win 3 heats out of 5 is the winner of that race. During racing a judge on each lane keeps track of each teams finishing time for each race, the faster the time then the more points awarded for that heat. Time points and race wins are totally different sets of points.
Here is a break down of Points awarded for times ...

If a team's heat race time is less than 32 seconds but more than 28 seconds then they earn 1 point for that run.

If a team's heat race time is less than 28 seconds but more than 24 seconds then they earn 5 points for that run.

If a team's heat race time is less then 24 seconds then they earn 25 points for that run.

These points are only given to the dogs who ran in that race. So if a dog is on a team but does not run in any races that dog receives no points. A dog must run in a race to receive the points awarded for that race.

How Does a Dog Earn it's Titles?

The title a dog earns is a direct result of it's racing. What I mean is, the more a dog races and the faster the team is that it's racing on then the more points it will receive and the higher the title it can get.

For example: a dog that runs enough races with times under at least 38 seconds, in which it accumulates up to 20 points or is on a fast enough team to score 25 points in on heat, will receive the title of "Flyball Dog". Those points then will get carried over to the next race and the next and so on and so forth until the dog reaches 100 points and receives the title "Flyball Dog Excellent". The points then are carried over until the dog reaches 500 ponts and is awarded the "Flyball Dog Champion" title and so on an so forth throughout the dog's flyball career.
